Accessibility is about building web pages that can be navigated and read by everyone, regardless of disability, location, experience or technology.
By following the accepted accessibility standards and guidelines we produce dynamic and creative websites that can be appreciated by the greatest possible number of internet users.
The websites we design follow the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This helps to ensure that every one of your visitors can make the most from your website.
Why Make Websites Accessible?
The Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) makes it illegal for companies to provide an inferior service to, or discriminate against, a disabled person and has made it a legal requirement for companies and organisations to ensure that all can access their services and information. This legislation extends to websites and internet services. According to W3C, the governing body of the World Wide Web, up to 20% of people are affected by some form of disability. A significant portion of people with disabilities can benefit from web sites specifically designed to be more accessible.
In the UK there are many people who have cognitive, visual, hearing or physical disabilities which affect their ability to use computers and the Internet and this is growing as people live longer. Even something as simple as the aging process – which affects us all, can make using websites significantly harder. Poor contrast between colours, small typefaces and complicated menu systems can make your website unreadable.
